前段时间网上流传着威盛要生产双通道 Channel DDR的 VIA KT600A芯片组。很多人都信以为真。因为照以前VIA的做法，曾经在推出一款芯片组之后又推出了冠以“A”的后代芯片组，比如KT133、KT133A、KT266、KT266A、KT333、KT400、KT400A等等。

    所以呢，如果大家都认为VIA在推出KT600之后会紧接着推出KT600A芯片组，那么将要推出的KT600的销售就肯定会受到影响，毕竟大家的想法都是想等到更成熟的产品出来。

    如今，VIA方面就这一情况作出了澄清。表明关于KT600A的谣传纯属空穴来风，不足为信。

以下引用VIA发言人的话说：

    We REALLY hope that KT600 is going to be the last chipset for Athlon XP. At the moment it is all in the hands of AMD - we do hope that K8T400M for Athlon 64 will be our next product for AMD platform. On the other hand, memory doesn't seem to be any serious bottleneck for Athlon processors at the moment, so the performance benefit would be minimal, if any. So, officially and unoficially, no truths about KT600A.

    我们真的希望KT600是最后一款Athlon XP芯片组产品。但目前情况下这完全取决于AMD方面—我们不希望配合Athlon64的K8T400M芯片组会是我们的下一代AMD平台产品。而另一方面，由于就现在看来内存问题对于Athlon处理器已经不再是瓶颈了，所以单就提高性能的角度来说，（就算生产了KT600A）所获利润也已经很小了。所以呢，无论是官方还是非官方的，都没什么根据说做出KT600A。
